TMJ TherapyConservative estimates speculate that over 10 million Americans suffer from TMJ dysfunction. Also called TMD, this condition is commonly associated with teeth grinding, neck pain, headaches, clicking or popping of the jaw, and tingling in the extremities. TMD occurs when the temporomandibular joints, the small, triangular joints that control movement of your jaw, don't function properly. When these joints are out of sync, the associated nerves and muscles become strained, often causing spasms and pain. To properly diagnose TMJ dysfunction, Dr. Ebrahimian will conduct a thorough health history, take appropriate X-rays, and perform an exam. Once he understands your case, the dentist can make recommendations to correct the cause of your problems and alleviate discomfort. Non-surgical TMJ therapy may involve applying moist heat or ice, physical therapy exercises, a bite adjustment, stress management techniques, an oral appliance, or a combination of these options. Nature gives you one smile. We'll make sure it lasts. Call our dental office to schedule your TMJ exam with Dr. Ebrahimian. We welcome residents from Fort Bend and the surrounding areas to our Sugar Land practice.
