Root Canals

Every tooth has three layers, a strong outer covering of enamel, an underlying layer of dentin, and a soft inner core called pulp. The dental pulp is housed in canals that run through the tooth's root. Sometimes pulp is referred to as the tooth's nerve. It provides the tooth with blood to sustain life. Damage, decay, or trauma can kill the pulp and allow infection and swelling inside a tooth. Dr. Ebrahimian may recommend a root canal to relieve the pressure and save the tooth from extraction.

During the root canal, Dr. Ebrahimian removes the infected tissue, cleans the tooth's canals, inserts a manmade material, and seals the chamber to prevent problems in the future. Many people wrongly associate pain with root canal treatment. Most of the discomfort is actually caused by the infection, so patients usually feel better after the procedure. Dr. Ebrahimian will make sure you're comfortable during the entire procedure.

Nature gives you one smile. We'll make sure it lasts. Call our dental office and make your root canal or second-opinion appointment with Dr. Ebrahimian. We welcome residents from Fort Bend and the surrounding areas to our Sugar Land practice.
